Lets build Mummy!

Monday 28 January 2013

Liv had a bag of mega blocks for Christmas, they, along with her books, are the only things she plays with daily.

I love seeing her learn how to build with them, she used to get so frustrated and stop playing quite quickly but now she is learning how to build them high so she can topple them over with a giant CRASH!

She amazes me every day, she is learning so quickly and has me wondering where on earth my baby has gone

Park Hall Farm review

Sunday 27 January 2013

We visited Park Hall Farm just before Christmas to see Santa and as family days out go, it was one of the best!

There is so much to do there, Liv was a little too young for some of it but really enjoyed what she could partake in.

Some of the things we saw were cow milking, a classic cars display, pony grooming, giant chess, 2 bouncy castles, (1 over 6 and 1 under 6) peddle tractor circuit, slides, craft areas, rabbit and guinea pig petting, pig racing, chickens, lamas and horses just to mention a few!

There is something to keep most ages of Children amused, most areas are wheelchair accessible, there was only one computer activity that was up a flight of stairs, everything else was at ground level with no steps to manoeuvre.

There are go carts, a science and illusion zone, baby changing facilities in the toilets, lots of hand washing facilities and alcohol gel dotted around.

Liv fell asleep for a while and we weren't brave enough to go on the tractor ride without a child! It looked like great fun being pulled along behind the tractor and was £1 per person including adults.

There was so many activities for children to get involved in, also lots of areas to let of steam, indoor and outdoor play areas, soft play areas, sand play areas, ping pong, table football and giant outdoor space hoppers to name but a few.

The food area was full of picnic tables for you to eat your own food at, highchairs, 2 microwaves for warming baby food / milk. There is cafe for hot food, drinks and snack, they also sell baby food and ready made formula which I though was a very good idea.
I was quite surprised at how educational the majority of activities were. The Iron Age hut was amazing and really encouraged visitors to learn while having fun.
I haven't mentioned anywhere near of the things available to do at Park Hall Farm, I would DEFINITELY recommend a visit to my Friends and Family and fully intend to return on the spring to see the lambs.

She wasn't too sure about her first meeting with Santa but did enjoy her lovely teddy (while the 4 adults enjoyed a sherry and mince pie!)

As a family (Mummy, Daddy, Nanny, Grandad and of course Liv!) we would give Park Hall Farm 5 out of 5 and would love to hear what you think if you pay a visit.

Aquadoodle Review

Saturday 26 January 2013

I think this is one of the best toys I have seen to date.

The Aquadoodle mat is so clever, you simply unscrew the head from the pen (it unscrews the opposite ways to normal to make it harder for older children to open) fill it with water and away you go!

No mess, no fuss but plenty of drawing and learning fun.

Along the edge of the mat are A - Z pictures with the corresponding capital and lower case letter, this means your little one can learn for example, A is for Apple and also write the letter in both cases, I think that is brilliant!

Once the mat is full of your little artists hard work, simply leave it to dry for a few minutes and it will be clear to start again.

It is recommended for children age 3 and above but Liv has great fun with it (under supervision of course!)

I would definitely recommend this to my Friends and Family, it is a great learning toy and anything that reduces mess is a bargain in my opinion!

Livs first snow day

She wasn't very sure and didn't want to stay out very long.

She didn't like touching it but kicking it was great fun :)

I took a picture of her little wellie prints, pretty sure they will be a lot bigger next time we have snow, she is growing so fast.

How did your little ones react the first time they went in the snow?

Thursday 24 January 2013

Who doesn't like cake?
We had a lovely delivery a few weeks ago from Mufcake

Here are some more details.

Triple Belgian chocolate muffin with a triple chocolate ganach centre and chocolate and hazelnut buttercream.

This was very yummy, every chocolate lovers dream! This was Livs favourite although we did have to take off the sugar balls.

Toffee Banoffee:
Banana and Toffee muffin with a butterscotch centre and toffee buttercream.

This was my favourite, the muffin was so soft and filled with lots of yummy banana.

Seasonal Berry:
Spiced winter berry muffin topped with a lemon buttercream.

This was a lovely twist of Christmas in a muffin! The lovely berries and cinnamon made it smell of Christmas when you peeled the case away

Christmas Mufcake: mature Christmas cake with a white chocolate ganach, topped with orange, cinnamon and meringue buttercream.

We all enjoyed this one, a slice of a giant one of these would be yummy after Christmas dinner :)

We would recommend these scrummy cakes, keep your eyes peeled for your chance to win some Valentines cakes :)

Tommee Tippee electric steam steriliser review

Thursday 17 January 2013

I was really pleased when we were asked to review the new Tommee Tippee electric steam steriliser, we bought the previous model when Liv was born but it was dropped and broken a few weeks ago.

The first thing I noticed was that it had been streamlined, the second was that it now keeps bottles sterile for 24 hours where the previous model only kept them sterile for 3 hours.

This is not something you really think of as a first time parent but it makes a lot of difference trust me!

In the box:
1 x sterilising unit with lid
1 x inner tray for bottles
1 x inner tray for teats
1 x 150ml Tommee Tippee bottle
1 x set of teat tongs
1 x 0-3 month soother

The two trays inside are marked with a bottle or teat symbol to show you which shelf to put what on.

To check if the steriliser is suitable for other brands of bottle I used 3 different brands and all fitted perfectly so even if you have different bottles you can still use this steriliser.

The lid can also be used as a sterile area to assemble the bottles once they have been sterilised.

All you need to do apart from fill the steriliser is add 80ml of cold water to the base then press the button. For ease, all Tommee Tippee bottles are marked at the 80ml point with .......

We are very happy with the steriliser and would definitely recommend it to family and friends.

You can view Tommee Tippees full range here: www.tommeetippee.co.uk

Bounce and Spin Zebra Review

Thursday 10 January 2013

One thing we learnt quickly about Liv is that she loves to jump.

That wasn't a problem when she was small as she had her Jumperoo but since she got too big for that she has taken to sitting herself on your shin and bouncing until you jump her up an down, great fun, except she is the size of a 3 year old!

Before I developed thighs like Rocky, we bought her a Bounce and spin zebra, it is brilliant!

As well as jumping and spinning 360 degrees it plays music (2 volume levels), has flashing lights when it is jumping and has a toy to spin on each handle.

She loves it that much that I couldn't get her to stay still for a picture so here is a blurry action shot!

                                                                                                Here she is spinning around.

I would recommend this toy, it has been really good for helping with co-ordination and burning off some extra energy when it has been too wet to play outside.

Suitable from 12 months, maximum user Weight 19kg.
