Last minute Halloween buys.

Thursday 30 October 2014

Looking for last minute Halloween buys? Why not pop over to your nearest Asda for all your Halloween needs!

We have received some lovely samples this morning which Liv is kindly demonstrating!

We were sent some lovely purple "Frightful" fairy lights, a small smarties pumpkin, a pumpkin box full of jelly sweeties and a fabric pumpkin trick or treat bucket.

Liv - sporting her Halloween outfit (also from Asda!) can't wait to take her bucket around to the Family tomorrow collecting
up lots of lovely treats.

The treats will be demolished but the fairy lights are going to go in our newly decorated bedroom of the same colour, possibly in a fish bowl vase.

Thanks Asda!

Asda wooden dolls house review.

I think every Parent has had that moment when they open the box of a toy and pull out a flimsy plastic thing that you know isn't going to last two minutes once your little ones get hold of it.

On the other hand it's lovely to put something together and know that it feels solid and sturdy, this is definitely the case with this beautiful wooden dolls house from Asda. Retailing at just £35, I can see it being a firm number 1 on a lot of little Girls Christmas lists.

It was very easy to put together and very cleverly uses these little plant pots as wedges to secure the sides on.

Made from a mixture of MDF and solid wood, the house measures in a very solid 64.9 x 58.3 x 33cm once assembled. It sits evenly and stands straight - unlike some others I have seen! It is also painted in toy safe George Kids Designed colours.

Liv has genuinely loved playing with her house and has already asked for the wooden dolls house accessories (not included) to complete her house - they have the same cute cut out butterfly motif so match perfectly.

The one minor thing I would say could improve this house, is having slow close hinges on the roof. Liv had a little incident with her finger being caught when she closed the roof on it, there was no mark on her finger as the roof isn't heavy but I would definitely be more aware of it if younger Children are using it (although it is recommended for age 3+)

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to Family and Friends as it really is a gorgeous product that I'm sure Liv will have many years enjoyment out of.

Chelsea Flipping Pup pool playset review.

Monday 27 October 2014

For this review, Liv was very lucky to be sent a Chelsea Flipping Pup pool play set. Which contains everything Chelsea and her 3 puppies need for a fun filled day at the pool.

For those of you who don't already know, Chelsea is Barbies little Sister. She was introduced in 2011 and is around 6 years old. She is very popular with younger Girls and can be seen in the programme "Barbie: Life in the Dream House" alongside her big Sister and other family members.

Chelsea comes dressed in a lovely swimming costume, duck rubber ring and holding a small dolphin in her hand. On further inspection she can also be used as a squirter! Stand her in the water and squeeze the rubber ring to suck up some water then squeeze again and it squirts out of the dolphin - Liv thought this was AMAZING and calls it magic - *soaks Mummy*

The lovely Pups can also "jump" off the diving board by pressing a lever making a lovely splash in the pool.

What's in the box? (Image top left):
  • A slide
  • A ladder
  • 2 crossbars
  • A swimming pool
  • A diving board
  • 2 squirters pups
  • A flipping pup
  • A Chelsea doll
  • A boat for the pups to use on the slide
It was very easy to assemble, simply attach the crossbars and steps to the side, clip the diving board to the right side of the pool and the slide to the left side. Voila! Ready to go!

Two of the puppies are water squirters, while with a couple of easy steps (pop the lever up on the bottom of the slide and tuck the puppies legs under) the third pup actually does a mid air flip at the end of the slide!

As you can see, Liv genuinely loves this play set and can't wait to take the pups and Chelsea in the bath with her. She doesn't need any help at all while playing with it which is brilliant as so many things are fiddly and she gets quite easily frustrated if she can't do something by herself. It was also lovely to be able to open the box and start playing - no batteries or extra accessories needed buying before she could get stuck in.

I would definitely recommend this toy to Family and Friends. Why not pop on over to Barbie.co.uk to catch up with the latest with Barbie and her pet pals. Do pop back and let me know how you get on.

This toy is recommended for age 3+ and the RRP is £22.99.

Charlie gets a new collar and tag - review.

Tuesday 7 October 2014

Regular readers will recognise this little Guy as our 5 year old King Charles Spaniel - Charlie.

He has previously reviewed a Dog bed, Dog food and toys but never a collar/tag - until now!

When we were asked if we would like to review with Collars and Tags, we happily agreed. After looking through harnesses, toys and leads to mention a few, we decided on a new collar as his old leather one was getting cracked and a new identity tag as the information was barely visible on his current one,

We decided to get a nylon collar this time as Charlie is very big for his breed, we have never actually found a collar that fits, I always end up having to buy them too big and puncturing an extra hole in to make it fit.

After looking through the website, I decided on the Red Dingo flying bones collar in medium - available in 3 sizes Small 20-32cm = £5.48, Medium 30-45cm = £6.25, Large 40-60cm = £7.29.

It fastens with a very simple yet sturdy click lock, has a D ring for you to attach a tag or lead. Made from high density nylon for comfort stitched and strength and sewn (not welded) to ensure maximum strength. I am very pleased with this very good quality collar.

The medium bone ID tag is deeply engraved and the information is then paint filled in black so you can read it easily. It is also engraved with our address on the reverse. Sadly it doesn't come with the bow or moustache pictured above which I have added to the images to conceal my personal mobile number. Measuring 42mm x 26mm and 2.5mm thick, the zinc alloy tag is thicker than any other tag I've bought and worth every penny of the £7.65 it cost.

Postage and Delivery:
P&P of £2.40 was added to my order which I think is very reasonable. I was emailed to advise when my order was dispatched and my parcel arrived with Royal Mail two days later.

I am very happy with the service and products we received and would happily direct Family and Friends to this site.
